Interview with my Dad, David

What did you know about M.S. before you were diagnosed?

D: Nothing really. When I was diagnosed I asked the doctor if it was was Jerry Lewiss kids have (Multiple Dystrophy)

How did the diagnosis affect your life?

D: On a positive side it showed how many people cared for me and helped me.

I knew I wasn't feeling well so it was a relief to know what it was and that it could be treated.

What symptoms do you have?

D: Tingling in my feet, fatigue, loss of balance

What has your treatment been?

D: I take 2 different pills everyday. I get infused with a drug once a month. The drug keeps the progression of the disease down.

Since you have gotten treated have you felt better?

D: Yes. I probably have more of a variety of symptoms now but less severity.

What are your hopes for your future with M.S?

D:To stay stable and hopefully they will find a cure. But I will be content if I stay the same. I can get through it.

On Sunday My family, some friends and I did a walk for M.S. in Boston. It started at Harvard Stadium where there was a bunch of booths . Some were for different medication companies. There was a trivia table. I was asked if the disease was more common in men or women and correctly guessed woman. Then there was an area where you passed in the money you had raised and received a t-shirt. The walk was around the Charles River and was 3 miles. Photos to come!
